Amazon Hires AI Startup Founders to Boost Tech Expertise

Amazon has recently bolstered its team by recruiting David Luan and Aleksandra Faust, the co-founders of the AI startup Adept, known for its pioneering developments in large language models. These new additions come as Amazon continues to expand its focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning innovations.

Adept was established in 2020 and distinguished itself through the creation of language models capable of generating and understanding text akin to human communication. These models have versatile applications that include enhancing customer service, facilitating content generation, and improving data analytics.

Both Luan and Faust bring a wealth of knowledge in AI to Amazon. Before launching Adept, Luan led another machine learning venture, Cotext, as its CEO and co-founder. Faust, meanwhile, contributed her expertise to Google Brain, where she served as a research scientist.

An Amazon representative expressed excitement about the new hires, stating, “We’re thrilled to have David and Aleksandra join our team. Their expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and expand our capabilities in these areas.”

Although Luan and Faust’s departure is a setback for Adept, the startup has announced that it will continue its operations and mission to advance language model technology.

This strategic acquisition by Amazon underscores the company’s dedication to advancing its technology in areas such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. Amazon has invested in various other AI-driven projects, including the Alexa virtual assistant and the Amazon Go stores, which revolutionize shopping with advanced computer vision and machine learning technologies.

With the addition of such skilled individuals, Amazon is set to further enhance its innovation in artificial intelligence and machine learning, solidifying its position for future technological advancements.
